Ancient Hawaiian Land Units (Ahupuaa / Moku)
Students learned the Hawaiian place names surrounding Kahili (ahupuaa/moku) and a brief history of how prehistoric Hawaii was populated and its social structure evolved. Two important questions are asked so that students begin understanding sense of place through Hawaiian place names:
What Ahupuaa/ Moku do you live in?
What Ahupuaa/Moku is Island School in?
